We arrived from Hong Kong for just 4 days and were surprised with the welcome. Very friendly, refreshing towels and drink. Shown straight to the Kinabalu club where the staff were efficient and friendly. Room Cleaning was good and turndown service excellent. The Tanjung Aru resort is a very pleasant resort. The rooms were large and clean with nice views, the facilities were adequate and the service was OK but there was nothing great about it. For a Shangri-La (and the amount we paid) this probably fell below my expectations and there was nothing outstanding about the resort, facilities or the staff.... more

We stayed for 8 days here in a Tanjung Wing seaview room. We had a really lovely time. The lobby area is made to look like a longhouse, with big fans and a musician playing the gongs at the entrance! We upgraded to sea view for about £11 per night extra and were not disappointed. Room in the tanjung wing right on the 9 hole pitch and putt with ocean views beyond.
