Good location, It's about 10min. walk to Kuching Waterfront and 5 min. to the Shopping mall Plaza Merdeka where on the top floor you can find all kinds of food to eat out. Rooms are basic but spacious. They might smell a bit but that's normal because it's in an old house ! Bathroom has hot water. Wifi available. You... More

Stayed at the Fairview for 5 nights . Annie, the owner is very helpful and friendly. For a reasonable fee she will pick you up from the airport as well. The rooms are big, cheap and very clean. I had a great stay. It is a short walk to the waterfront and opposit the guesthouse is a small park and... More

We stayed 2 nights in a huge bedroom on the first floor with an attached bathroom and wish we could have stayed longer as we were made most welcome. Annie picked us up from the airport and suggested we visit the Sunday market nearby which we did, I loved seeing all the fresh produce for sale. The next day she... More

We used the Fairview as our base whilst in and around Kuching and enjoyed staying there very much. It's an old (1920's?) big house with an extra annexe with a couple of rooms (we stayed in the family room there). The owner Annie is very helpful - we were happy to be picked up at the airport as we arrived... More

I found "The Fairview" Guesthouse in a New York Times travel article before I traveled to Kuching in May of 2011. When my friend and I first arrived, I wasn't blown away by the rooms - they were pretty standard for the guesthouse scene, yet clean and orderly. Whatever The Fairview lacks in frills, it more than makes up for... More

Situated in a historic building, the Fairview provides room and that cozy feeling of being in a home rather than a hotel or B&B - hosts Annie and Eric are very helpful in arranging excursions, and in general answering queries - so if you feel comfortable about helping yourself a little, and ask if you need something, they will go... The thing that makes this guesthouse are the owners Annie and Eric. Absolutely amazing people, so helpful and welcoming. The guesthouse itself if a quaint family home really but it is comfortable and clean. But the best part is the tours that they arrange. The trip to turtle island is a once in a lifetime experience. They cannot guarantee that... More

Our introduction to Kuching was at 0030 at the airport, and all I could think was "so glad we asked for a driver to pick us up". I didn't realize that our "driver" was our hostess - Annie. This was only the beginning of her fantastic service. Fairview is about a 10min walk from the Riverfront, and it is a... More
