After visiting Kuching, I travelled with my partner to the Permai Rainforest Resort to stay in one of the Treehouses there. It is something I would recommend to anyone travelling in Borneo. Situationed on the coast with views of the South China Sea, the Permai Rainforest is a great retreat for those who have been staying cities and are looking... more

We stayed in a treehouse overlooking the South China sea on one side and the rainforest on the other. We stayed with a 5 year old and a 9 year old and the whole experience - from the beautiful jungle walk to bathing in the freshwater spring water pool, to seeing some amazing fauna and flora - was magical and... more

All excited and set to comb the Permai Rainforest. The tree houses were full so we had to settle for a 6-pax cabin. Looked decent on the internet but when we got there, we were in for surprises. The cabin was run down, windows were falling off, could not be secured, walls were dirty and even had mosquitoes with blood... more

I was really looking forward to the Permai Rainforest Resort after reading all the reviews. We tried to set our expectations correctly about being in the forest and also the bugs and other outdoor aspects of the resort. Also, paying about 32GBP per night, it's not right to expect the Four Seasons! Unfortunately, there were no tree houses available for... more

Treehouses were great. Stayed in number 10 which is the last one so nice and quiet plus seemed to have an extra balcony compared to the others. Beaches were great, but no towels or beach bed. Fresh water pool was small but refreshing, but again no where to sit or lie. Luckily the balcony got plenty of sun. Did the... more

This place is brilliant, go to sleep in the canopy with the incoming tide lapping under your balcony, and wake to the sounds of the forest with monkeys and birds on your balcony!! No tv, no phone, but a well equipped comfy room, spacious and clean, with a/c and fan. Its quite a trek along the paths to the cabins... more

Stayed for 5 nights in June 2009. We booked a tree house and did not know really what to expect. We were celebrating our 20th wedding anniversary and were looking for something different - and we definitely found it. To be sitting on your balcony drinking morning coffee high up in the tree tops with monkeys in the trees about... more

We stayed here for five nights on our honeymoon and we absolutely loved it. Simply being in a treehouse in the middle of the rainforest and listening to the buzzing of wildlife as you went to sleep was fantastic. The balcony also looked out onto the beach. The resort offers lots of trips, we did most of them, boats trips... more

We loved our few days at Permai Rainforest Resort. Due to the intense heat everything happens at a slower pace and so expectations need to change accordingly but the environment is such a pleasure that's no hardship. The people were incredibly friendly and were appreciative of our attempts to communicate in Bahasa Malay. The accommodation was comfortable with air-conditioner and... more

We stayed 3 nights at Permai Resort. Above all, we enjoyed the beach the best.. the sun was shining and water was blue, the breeze and sand made it all lovely. Because it was a weekend, it was quite crowded (people who dont stay there can pay an entrance fee to walk thru and use the beach). By Monday, it... more
