My Wife and I began our long awaited honeymoon here at Flamingo Bay and we loved it. We chose it predominantly because I wanted to stay in a house on stilts in the water and this was the only place we could find that offered that which wasn't in the Maldives. the chalets are situated in an estuary on the... more

Wow, what a great place. The setting, the service and the food is absolutely fabulous. Jose at reception went out of his way to make our stay memorable. Our waiter at dinner, Remy, was amazing. The chef, Lesley, cooked up a storm, including a monster crayfish for my husband's 50th bithday. They made our stay absolutely fantastic. The dive shop... more

My wife and I had a great time here on our honeymoon. The accommodation is superb, the food very good and the setting wonderful. All the rooms are in individual wooden huts built on stilts out in the bay. At high tide we could go swimming straight from our room! Activities were mostly organised through the Barra Beach Lodge (same... more

The first time we were introduced to our waiter for the week: Joseph we new we were in for a special treat... With any special request from our side, the answer from Joseph would always be the same: “ No problem – all things are possible... and then as if we were doing him the favour- Thank you – Thank... more

Flamingo bay really was a piece of paradise. You MUST go! The people were lovely, the food was delish and jumping off your balcony to snorkel and see all the little tropical fish under the casita is unbeatable. They also really went out of there way to give excellent service over meal times. What's very handy is that you can... more

We decided on Flamingo Bay Water lodge for our honeymoon and stayed there for 4 nights during March / April 2009. We really had an excellent time and will definitely make a plan to go back there again one day. Everything about our trip right from the start was very well organised. Even when Mozambique Airlines was delayed for about... more

We do not know where to begin. Our Stay at Flamingo bay was fantastic. I am in the hospitality industry and seldon get time away, when we do get the chance we try to go to destinations which are peacefull, romantic and where we can relax. Flamingo bay met these requirements perfectly. From the moment we arrived (we drove from... more

My surprise honeymoon destination ... my husband could not have chosen a better place. The flight to Inhabane was a little scary on such a small plane, but was fun. The Inhabane airport was a joke but then again we were in a 3rd world country. The unplugged metal detector said it all. We were welcomed by the driver of... more

We booked this place because the brochure claims that it is "Mozambique at its very best" - but it was certainly the worst Christmas & New Year holiday we have ever had. The signs were there before going: 1. The airline serving the Kruger National Park - Inhambane flight (promoted on the hotel website at the time) cancelled the route.... more

Management response from
BarraLodgeDiveCentre, Dive Centre Manager

We would like to clarify the situation with the divers in question. Barra Lodge Dive Centre is a PADI 5 star IDC centre, as well as a DAN (Divers Alert Network) Safety Partner. Divers choose such facilities to dive with as they can be assured of a certain quality of service delivery which meets international standards. One of the requirements...

Me and my wife went to Flamingo Bay for our honeymoon. This is really a special place. Their attention to detail was very good and they really made us feel welcome. The best about the lodge is their service, food and exclusivity. Some might argue that their prices for beverages and lunch is expensive, but this adds to the exclusivity.... more
