My wife and I recently returned from a 5 night stay at the Barcelo Montelimar Beach. This is a long review, but I believe I've included everything I remember to try and help out those in need. Many reviews price the taxi trip from Managua Airport around $60. This is the truth with some exception. Being someone of limited spanish,... more

This resort was more than we expected. We felt like it was a private little town. The employees were so attentive and nice. We stayed in a bungalow (family of four) it was nice to have connecting rooms. They put us in a great location between the pool and the restaurant. Pleasant relaxing trip would definitely go back again. more

This was my second visit to Montelimar. My earlier glowing review was posted June 2nd 2008. Perhaps nothing is as good as the first time but I was greatly dissapointed with the service and the room this trip. I will just give the highs and lows of the property: Highs: Service from all staff except front desk, pools were clean... more

The room, we were assigned was in a bungalow (worn and aged but clean) the bungalow was well located on the grounds. The room is large. In my bungalow the bathroom was off a hallway away from the bedroom so you didn’t wake up your partner with doors banging. Good bed, cable T.V. (I didn’t find a north american english... more

Great Value: Friendly Staff: Good place to relax as the resort is spread out and even though is was almost fully booked when we where there it did not seem like there where a lot of people around. The only complaint is that English is the third language spoken after Spanish and French and service in English is limited but... more

Hello to all, I'll give you the lowdown on this beautiful resort. First, check-in was done in a snap...you get in line and boom 10 minutes later you get everything you need (Room and towel cards) and then you go to your room and your bagages are there waiting for you. Next, here are the two strikes for me and... more

Reading the other reviews I would say that a day pass is probably the way to go. I went to the Montelimar resort with my wife and her family (who we were staying with in Managua). For a Canadian, I must say that the trip there alone was an incredible experience. Through the Rainforest and small villages along the way.... more

After reading some of the other reviews, I had to express my feelings about the 3 day stay I experienced.Let me start by saying... awsome. I had a wonderful time.Of course the hotel is somewhat outdated, this is nicaragua we are talking about.I stayed in a bungelow and at the main hotel building, and my experience was awsome.I live in... more

My family and I were there for a family vacation (three adults and 2 kids 8 and 6 years old). The receptionist gave us one room for 5 people with only 2 full size beds. When we complained, the receptionist told us that if we wanted an additional bed we had to pay 15 dollars for an extra small bed.... more

You are correct that check-in is a night mare. We waited almost an hour in line to get to the desk and then they couldn't find our reservation.(it was sunday and many locals come for day passes) They told us to go have lunch and would work it out. 3 hours later we were rewarded for our patience with 2... more
