I contacted Piccola Italia after my first option (Fullton) fell through, and it was one of the only guesthouses I visited during my 12-day visit to Romania. I was expecting a dive, but instead found a nice pension at a very reasonable price. . . . A few notes:
* My room was definitely a good size -- larger than my accommodation at the Hotel Rembrandt in Bucharest at ~1/6 the price (110 Lei). It was clean, functional, and even included a minibar.
* The staff -- a young guy with near-perfect English skills -- was great. Check in/out was efficient, my wake-up call came on time, and he even spoke to my taxi driver to make sure he knew where to take me at the airport.
* Breakfast wasn't great -- not bad, but definitely not what was served at other locations.
* The location, which others might consider a weak point, was actually pretty good. The walk to Piata Unirii was no more than 10 minutes, and with only one turn. I'm a bit of a stickler re...
