We arrived in Cluj, hoping to stay at the venerable Continental Hotel ( see other trip advisor reviews), but found that it was closed and had been sold. One of the staff recommended the Villa Siesta, which used to belong to the Continental. It is on a dingy side street close to the center of the city. However inside it is quite spacious, and we had a very large apartment at the price of a double room. The rooms in general appear to be large. and very clean and well looked after. The room came with a large breakfast. It is well worth the price, and once we got to know Cluj, we found we could walk to the center, and a slightly longer walk to the magnificent botanical gardens.
A word of warning, the Museum of ethnography is closed for restoration.
The staff were very friendly and recommended some restaurants nearby.
