Location is not so perfect. Metro station is far. But it takes 10 minutes to get to the center by taxi. Generally I felt soviet atmospare and level of services. But taking into account the price in the hotel, it is worth staying there. more

We stayed at the Hotel Sputnik for 8 days because my husband was attending a science conference, the organizers booked us. I have stayed all over the world in motels and hotels small and large, fancy and simple, rural and urban and I have never had such a dreadful experience in my life. The building itself is Sputnik era, delapidated,... more

September 2008 Our first introduction to Moscow. This was one of the worst hotels I've stayed at. I agree with some of the reviewers in that the rooms are small, but that didn't matter as much as the awful service with which we were unprepared. Front desk staff in particular were rude, narrow minded, unhelpful and just plain difficult.. Checking... more

For work reasons I have stayed here twice but personally I would NOT recommend this. Admittedly, the breakfast is nice and the hotel has a good Indian restaurant. However, the rooms are small and the hotel itself is soulless but worst of all: the staff are very unhelpful and unfriendly. English is barely spoken and no efforts are made to... more

Horrible service! If you have an option NOT to stay there - don't, avoid this place. The phone in the room immediately went out of order and no one fixed it within 4 days despite multiple complaints. Front desk people were nasty, security not helpful. Rooms are small, blankets are old and burned with cigaretts, no air conditioning, no decent... more

I needed to be near the Russian Academy of Science so this was the place to stay. Rooms were OK, although not elegant. Breakfast was quite good: something for everyone. There's a tea room on the 16th floor and a very nice Indian Restaurant up a few more steps. The owner is opening a sushi bar on the ground floor... more

We got our Russian customer to book the rooms for us. We were charged 18000Rubs for 3 nights in a quite pokey, but clean, single room. That's 146 GBP/night. Maybe that's the going rate off this Russian booking site that was used. Interesting earlier comment about 'ladies of the night'. They also operate in the bar area but the security... more

When I stayed in this hotel in 2003 it was half the price it was that it is today, and if I go back to Moscow I would stay here again. Its a bit of a distance from Red Square, and the nearest Metro I could find was a 10 minute walk away (though I think there was a closer... more

Security at entrance extremely impolite indicating female guests were prostitutes without any appology. Reception not friendly. Cleaning of room ok. General impression - Hotel from "old communist time" without any kind of hospitality. more

I stayed here again .The prices have changed and I payed about 115 Euros for a single room which is cheap for Moscow standards-All rooms have been renovated recently but they already look somewhat run down due to frequent usage. The hotel is mostly full all the time. All rooms have a fridge but only the suites are airconditioned. Beds are... more
