OK, this hotel is in a small court yard, accessed through a passage-way, off a safe side street from Nevsky Prospect. But the passage-way cuts through to a steet, which you cross and you are in Alexander Square facing the Winter Palace!
The rooms are standard and clean and your are not going to have a great view of anything. They are newly decorated, clean linen and towels are provided. TV is OK and we had a fridge in the room. The price is great for a city centre location. Our only gripe - no wardrobe! We had to hang our clothes of a clothes rack!
Food in the restaurant was fine, with a buffet style breakfast. Don't expect American size proportions in St Petersburg.
Would we stay at Yards of Capella again - yes, without hesitation.
