My tour group stayed at this hotel for 4 nights while in St. Petersburg. While the rooms APPEARED to be very nice -- beautiful shiny bathrooms, full size twin beds, and a nice TV, the reality was horrific! #1 - FLEAS!!! #2 - The GHETTO #3 - Good food... #1 --We stayed in the "renovated" rooms, but discovered after our... more

Our group arrived at the hotel Azimut at midnight. The lobby was filled with cigarette smoke and ladies of the night were perched on the couches. Some of our rooms had beds with springs poking through the top of the mattress, burned out lightbulbs, hair on the sheets, and black water flowing from the showers. None of our rooms had... more

Absolutely among the worst place I've stayed in..."comfort single" is poor and no a/c, no fridge. Prices very high for the service and room they provide. Thought the meals in the restaurant were very high priced, and location of hotel makes it hard to find an close-by place to eat cheaper. The cost of internet services (in their business center)... more

Firstly for anyone who is a little confused - the Sovetskaya Hotel is now called the Azimut as it has been taken over by a new chain. My partner and I booked 3 nights in this hotel after searching for something that meeted both our price range and our requirements - i.e, cleanliness, privacy, good service etc etc. Having read... more

it's a GIGANTIC hotel (a few blocks long) and isn't in the most opportune location, but i was very impressed with it. service was great and we had most of the hotel to ourselves. the restaurants had good food and the morning breakfast is excellent. it's included in the price of the room and is a HUGE buffet spread. there's... more

Our experience with the Sovetskaya proved that you get what you pay for. In our case, we paid a very reasonable rate for accommodations in this expensive city, and the room was adequate, but nothing great. It was not luxurious by any means, but it was a safe, clean place to spend the night, and we found our room to... more

We have just returned from traveling to major cities in Russia. Staying at this hotel was the worst hotel ever!! Several reasons. #1 and most important. The front desk is a nightmare. Nothing was right. There were 6 rooms in our group. Not ONE was correct. We spent forever trying to get checked in. All rooms we reserved with air... more

After reading some reviews before I visited the Hotel Sovetskaya I was a little nervous about the level of service I could expect, but was pleasantly surprised by just how helpful the staff were with all the questions I posed during the stay. All the staff I spoke to at the reception and information counters spoke english. The room I... more

It's located near to the centre of the city. The rooms are common and clean. I had only breakfast here, but it was fine and you can choose more than you can eat. Nice staff. more

I don't know what's standard for hotel rooms in this part of the world--this was only the third at which we stayed at in Russia--but there were some things which were clearly disappointing at any level: 1) I realize that the "non-smoking" trend hasn't arrived in Europe, but we were given what we were told was a non-smoking room. What... more
