I've stayed at the Yakhont three times now on business. The rooms are large and very comfortable, although Russian furnishings won't be to everyone's taste. It's spotlessly clean and the service levels are pretty high for an old-style Russian hotel. Genuinely, the staff seem to want to please.
The only major problem with the hotel is its location. It's in a quiet residential area (decent supermarket across the street) with few restaurants nearby. The city centre is a 15 minute taxi ride and you need to book this in advance as few pass the hotel.
The hotel has a restuarant in which breakfast is served. The eggs look pretty anaemic and the coffee is not great, but otherwise it's OK. Dinner is slightly more of an adventure as the menu provides only a vague indication of what will arrive.
