I accompanied my husband, Edwin, from Taif to Khamis Mushyyat via Al Baha. He made reservations for us to stay at the Intercontinental Hotel in Abha. The hotel is located in the mountains high above the city and close to the very beautiful Asir National Park.

During our stay, we were not able to see the stunning view of the surrounding lush Asir countryside because we were high enough in the mountains to be enshrouded by the clouds during our entire visit. This region of Saudi Arabia gets more rain than other regions, and such was the case when we visited. Some escarpments were closed because of mountain slides that had occurred due to the recent rains.

When we arrived at the hotel in March 1997, there were few guests. We almost felt like the hotel was ours alone. The room was adequately appointed and large.
