The hotel looks like it should really be a great hotel but there is something just not quite right about it. The rooms are very nice and extremely clean, but the design is quite unusual and the glass walled shower and bath (this seems to be the latest trend in China) not practical for all situations. Nice hotel but it has two problems. It lies in the middle of a building site at present. The centre of Guangzhou is being transformed for the Asian Games in 2010. This has been my best hotel experience ever. The rooms, the food, the service, the spa, everything. We did not go back because we found a cheaper hotel, but the Grand Hyatt was worth every penny spent. The hotel had premium parking at the Guangzhou fair so it was just a short walk to the quarter hourly air conditioned buses.... more
