I was a little a taken aback by some of the recent reviews on the hotel before my trip. After check in I was given an old outdated room. I immediately complained to the manager, and was given a new updated room on the 11th floor which was much nicer. The hotel atmosphere is still top notch and the breakfasts... more

One cannot expect too much from a hotel which was built 20 years ago in Guangzhou. In terms of the exterior and the lobby and other public areas, the Garden Hotel looks very decent. The disappointment comes when I open the door of my room (one with the lowest price). The room, though clean, looks out dated. The bath room... more

I have stayed at the Garden Hotel 6 times in the last four years. The staff has always been excellent and the public areas are very good. If you book the cheapest rate or are unlucky you get an older room with two very hard single beds. The newer rooms are very good. When booking I would ask if you... more

The hotel reception is amazing but thats about it. My room had two single beds. I asked to be changed and was advised that the hotel was fully booked. I am 6 ft 4 so sleeping was exceptionally difficult in a small bed. The room was also very basic with old CRT television and mouldy bathroom. There are cheaper hotels... more

Aside from the grand exterior and huge lobby, the rooms are no better than the Motel 6 stuff. The rooms are tiny, with ugly decors and curtains, the bathrooms are small and disgusting. The service are terrible. Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice..... Not In This Life Time more

Like the last review this hotel has just got worse. I have been in China for 1.5 years right now and have frequently stayed at this hotel, and its service has just went right downhill along with the rooms. Our last stay involved 3 of us sharing a double room. We booked online through my work here in China (has... more

I have stayed at this hotel many, many times over several years. In the beginning the hotel was quite good, excellent really for chinese standards. However, on each visit lately the hotel has got worse & worse. The rooms are small & worn, even though they claim to be recently renovated. The prices have gone up year after year &... more

This hotel was old and dirty. My first night there I went to take a shower and the water was a yellowish brown for the first few mins. We stayed here 3 nights and the rest of the time the water ran clear each time I ran it. As for the staff, it was pretty much hit or miss. Some... more

Some say this is the best hotel in town. Maybe that was true back in the 1980s. The rooms are small, the interior decorating is boring, the location is not convenient, and the breakfast is nothing spectacular. I will not stay in this hotel again. Pay less elsewhere and be happier. more

Central location to a lot of places in town. With a Bank of China branch in the lobby, cash withdrawal is convenient for foreign issued cards. High end luxury boutiques just across the road. The Japanese restuarant in the hotel is of international standard and is affordable. Very huge lobby, easy check in-out. Stayed in a suite with a living... more
