We stayed at this hotel for one night as part of a multi-city China tour. We were impressed at first. The lobby was very pretty and featured a huge fish tank filled with koi. However, it went straight downhill from there. The tour guide had pre-ordered a dinner including a local specialty, Beggar's Chicken. The hotel was unable to serve the dish because the entire kitchen staff had resigned and the new staff did not know how to prepare it. Instead, they substituted it with an unappetizing boiled duck. After dinner, we proceeded to our room, which entailed a five minute walk outdoors. The room was an unwelcome surprise! There was a glass wall between the shower and the bedroom. Also, the shower stall was not fully enclosed, so the floor was soaked afterward. Do not share a room with someone who may open the Venetian blinds without your permission. It was cold, the heat did not work, and the hardwood floors did not help. Other problems -- confusing light switches... more
