The Hotel was in a nice busy area close to the train station with plenty of convenience stores and eateries nearby. It is in quite a residential area. We found a really good Kusihage restaurant less than a minute away with a great fun, welcoming atmosphere. We ate there twice (unfortunately the name has been forgotten and we only have... more

Excellent location well served by public transport. Friendly front desk. Our double room was HUGE by Japanese standards. Yes, it's a fair old walk downtown, but the buses are easy and you're also spitting distance from the subway which runs late. The front desk will sell you a daily bus pass for Y500 which is good for everything in the... more

ACCOMMODATION: The hotel is old but some parts were newly renovated (i.e. carpet, hallway). Beds are old but not too bad; door lock is still using keys rather than smart cards and most of all NO AIRCONDITION DURING THE COLD MONTHS (i.e. winter and spring or maybe whenever it's cold). I guess because of the "Kyoto Protocol" that they decided... more

Although this hotel was a fair walking distance from the main shopping area, it was easiely accessable via the metro - only 2 stops ! Staff were very friendly and the room was large and very clean. We stayed on the 5th floor (room 515) and found that the road noise was a little annoying when motorbikes roared by into... more

We were 1st time visitors and had no idea what to expect. Hotel was very clean and the "triple" room was adequate for our needs. Very attentive staff. Pillows are thick and hard! Bring your own! Close to a station to catch the train/subway/bus. Some of the desk personnel didn't understand English very well, but you could usually find someone... more

I had an 8th floor single room facing Shijo-dori and the room was clean and comfortable. The Japanese seems to always be cold and I'm always a hot but you adjust the temperature in the room fairly well by controlling the fan. There is a mini fridge and a TV that included BBC World although in the evening it's dubbed... more

Very good hotel. Very big rooms, particularly by Japan standards. Attentive staff. Location is appropriate, excellent (and free) broadband for laptop in the room. We booked 2 rooms for my wife, and my sons (12 and 10) respectively, and found it very pleasand, and very good value for money. The hotel is a good 4 star, and I would highly... more

I stayed at the Rhino Hotel in Kyoto for two nights in April 2006. And as far as value goes, this place is absolutely fantastic!! What appears to be a modest place from the outside is far from it when you get inside. I stayed in a single room and it was amazingly spacious and modern. I couldn't quite believe... more
