I stayed at togetsutei traditional ryokan for two nights with my husband, and it was a pleasent and relaxing experience. The area is beautiful with a river and mountain forests sceneries. My husband and I had a most excellent stay in Togetsutei ryokan. This ryokan is situated in Arashiyama, a beautiful small suburd just in west Kyoto, a 20 minute train ride from Kyoto station. We booked this through the Yahoo travel website (in Japanese) after comparing a few. Came in at about JPY 20,000 p/p ($200). This was in peak cherry blossom time. It has a beautiful setting in Arashiyama by the bridge. For the money we got the night's stay and an exceptionally good kaiseki menu. The food alone would easily cost that... more
