We booked a room in Oyado Ishicho in Kyoto thinking that is would be a traditional ryokan. It is in reality a big impersonal hotel (spread over too buildings) with no character at all, with the only traditional item being sleeping on a tatami.
Rooms and bathroom are really basic, not really clean. The restaurant serves expensive and basic food...
