I stayed at the adjoining Kaede (because Sakura was full that day but both are under the same management and use the same entrance). I was very happy for the 2 nights stay here. Although it's some distance from Kyoto train station, it's in a quiet and clean street. Not as noisy as my previous stay. My room is pretty... more

My wife and me stayed 4 nights at the Ryokan Sakura in November 2009 staying in the Sukiya-style room with garden. We had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this to anybody. The accomodation was along a nice quiet street and very modern as well as being in a good location to access either trains from Kyoto station or... more

I stayed 6 nights in a twin western style room at this ryokan, which was lovely. The room I stayed in had plenty of room, a tiny kitchenette(although there is nothing supplied that would allow you to cook a meal), and a decent sized bathroom. The common area is nicely decorated and has 2 PC's with internet access for free... more

I stayed at this ryokan for 3 nights during my stay in Kyoto. It was very new, so new that the first night I stayed there was during the first few nights of hotel opening. they opened early 2009. they offer both western style and japanese style rooms. I stayed in the japanese style room with a private bathroom for... more

The communal breakfast/lobby area and small garden are very pretty and... more

We stayed at Sakura Ryokan for 3 nights in July 2009. It was during the Gion Festival. The ryokan is located close to the bus routes, and had no trouble getting around the city, even on the days of the Gion Festival when certain roads were closed. The ryokan was the best one we stayed in. Everything had recently been... more

This was a newly updated facility. It still smells strongly of tatami mats, and is quite new. We upgraded to a VIP suite, which was still very tiny. It did have it's own bathroom (also tiny, like a bathroom you'd expect on a boat). You set up your futon beds each night and can make your own tea. I recommend... more

My husband and I stayed here for three nights and would absolutely recommend this ryokan. The staff all spoke excellent English and were extremely helpful with maps, recommendations, storing luggage, etc. They even did our laundry for us and have two computers available with free internet access. The ryokan just opened a few months ago and the rooms look and... more

We spend 5 days at this ryokan during our 14 days trip to Japan. Having compared the rest of the hotels we stayed in, I would have to say this was a great experience and I would come back anytime. We stayed in the Western style room on the top floor and it was a huge room - which was... more

This was our 4th time in Kyoto and we didn't want to splash more on our Ryokan experiences like we did twice before. But we felt staying in a ryokan in Kyoto has added so much more to our trip than at a nice modern hotel so here we were at Sakura. The rooms are very small and so are... more
