I'm a bit disappointed to see the number of people upset with the location of this hotel. A short bus ride or 5 minute, $6 taxi ride will get you to Kyoto station, Ponto-cho and to many other attractions in town. People forget that Kyoto is full of attractions and many of them won't be on brochures or in guides.... more

Very clean and modern hotel. Very central location if you want access to the train station as well as other parts of the city. However, the hotel is not immediately close to many of the tourist sites. We traveled outside of Kyoto several days during our stay here, so it was nice to be close to the train station. Buses... more

This was a perfectly acceptable hotel in every way--except for its location, which was far from the tourist action, and far from restaurants and shops. In pursuit of inexpensive meals, we wound up having breakfast at the exact same place each day, and tried every yakitori joint in easy walking distance--kind of a drag. Staff was helpful and rooms nicely... more

This was a really disappointing stay. The hotel is huge, the room Ok and staff good enough, however the location is terrible, on a busy main road a long way from the sites and above all there are absolutely no restaurants in the area. The choice we had in the evening after a hard day's sightseeing, was a fast food... more

We stayed in this hotel for business during one night. The hotel was booked via our Japanese agent. Very friendly and helpful reception. Room 662 is spacious enough (for Japanese standard) and well maintained. Internet works fine (get your cable at reception if it isn't in your room) and is for free. Especially entertaining are all the stickers and instructions... more

Not too appealing from the outside once you enter the foyer you must go down stairs into reception. Although reception overlooks a lovely water feature it does give an underground feeling. Reception and concerige are quite helpful and taxis will help you get anywhere you need to go. A taxi to the old Gion quarter is only approx 1000 Yen.... more

The rooms were pleasant. Bathroom very small. The staff were helpful. By joining the "Comfort Club" for free through the NYC office, we were given access to a club lounge which had free internet , refreshments including soft drinks and beer. We also had access to a staff member who helped us with travel arrangements, this was separate from the... more

My wife and I stayed here for 11 days in March 2007. From the minute we arrived, we found the service to be excellent. All the staff we dealt with spoke some English, and they looked after all of our needs. The location is very good, with Kyoto Station being a 15 minute walk, and Gion a 20 minute walk.... more

The Tokyu is a pleasant hotel and the rooms are well equipped. The rate I had that included breakfast was a deal. However, I did not find the reception staff to understand english. I often had to repeat myself several times and was never sure I got the right answer. The first night, I broke my glasses and the receptionist... more

Very fine hotel. Rooms are beautiful (quite scandinavian actually), air condition works as you like and lovely shampoos, beauty set etc. in the bathroom. For the ecological reasons it would have been nicer if the towels, sheets and bathrobes weren't changed daily. Although it smells like mold in the lobby, I vahe nothing to complain about the hotel. Location was... more
