The only good thing about this hotel was the location to the subway and the free use of the hotels push bikes. We checked into our room and just got settled when we were told we were in the wrong room we were then moved to a room overlooking a filthy black building the bins and the truck docking area.... more

This hotel is located next to Kyoto JR and subway station. From the station's main entrance at the north side, turn right and walk for less than 200m and you are ready to check-in. This is the central traffic hub of the city and you can reach almost every attraction in the city from here. You can also take trains... more

The hotel was clean and ideally located close to the station (literally behind it). Besides Kyoto station there is not much to do around the hotel itself if your planning on walking around and people watch. The best place to do that would be the Gion and surrounding areas as that is were all the department stores, palace and restaraunts... more

Friendly staff and a great location. We got off the Haruka Express from Kansai and walked out of the station, and the hotel is right around the corner. Convenient to the bus station (and you can ask at the front desk for an English bus map and day passes) The room and bathroom are small but were perfectly fine for... more

The location is great, 5 minutes walk from Kyoto station (which includes Kyoto subway right outside Kyoto station) The prices are reasonable and the staff are friendly The rooms are a little small, but that does not subtract from the feel of this hotel There are bikes you can borrow from the front desk (if you can ride) McDonalds (for... more

The bathroom is a miniscule 4 ft X 3 ft plastic box unit, which vents directly into the bedroom, which has no positive ventilation. Hence, besides difficulty of showering etc, the walls were mouldy and the room had a musty/damp smell. Carpets were very dirty in room and hallways. Reception area and restaurant was spacious and fine and staff are... more

I spent 4 nights here in July 2006. The hotel is in a fantastic location, less than a block from the Kyoto train station. You've got tons of food & shopping just steps from the hotel. I found a small laundry mat a few blocks away to do laundry. The lobby is gorgeous and the hotel restaurant looks great, although... more

I booked this hotel through Asiarooms at a rate of US$231 for three nights (Mar 27-29, 2005), including tax (but no breakfast). This was a great deal, especially since it was over a very busy weekend and most hotels were sold out. It's across the street from the central train station, to the right as you leave from the main... more

We currently live in Tokyo and have been to Kyoto several times when we have friends visiting us. Last week we stayed at the Dai- for one night in mid-February of 2005, and it is definitely my favorite so far. The location was great; it's literally one block away from the Kyoto train station, which made taking buses and taxis... more
