The Nikko Princess made our visit to Kyoto even better than expected. We were treated to an exceptional standard of service that is not matched at many 5-star hotels. Perhaps because it is smaller than some of the big name hotels in Japan, the staff knew our name very quickly and gave us only the best advice and service. Special... more

Great hotel, very large comfortable rooms and fabulous bathroom. Great breakfast buffet and very helpful staff. However the location is indeed a bit out of it (three blocks fromthe hustle and bustle, on a narrow side street). more

We stayed here as part of a tour of Japan. The Nikko is pretty huge and rambling, but the rooms are spacious - particularly for a lone traveller, with comfortable beds and a truly magnificent bathroom - with comprehensive wet room and bath. Only downer (admittedly not a great one) was the poor selection of dishes available at the buffet... more

The negatives: the location is a bit out of it, there is usually only one staff member on that speaks english, the entire hotel is very dated, the rooms are a bit scruffy and the restaurant (incl breakfast) is pretty ordinary. The positives: the staff are always friendly, taxis are plentiful. It's not that it's really bad, it's just not... more

We stayed four nights at the Nikko Princess Kyoto in the middle of a heat wave in August, and it was an exceptional respite from the heat and humidity. At first, I regretted not staying at the Hotel Granvia because of the convenience factor, but the benefit of being at the Nikko Princess is that it gives you a good... more

Now retired but lived in Asia for 7 years; have returned to Japan three times in the past five years. This hotel is a great find; on a quiet street in the middle of Kyoto. Our room was larger than average for Japanese hotels and in A-one condition - no thirty-year old decor here. The concierge was extremely helpful in... more

Fantastic Hotel, staff extremely friendly who went out of their way to assist and always with a smile on their faces. Room modern with excellent bath and shower unit, very clean and great view of the city. Subway very near by but we found the shopping and Gion in walking distance. A must stay Hotel in a beautifull city. more

I stayed at the Nikko Princess Hotel for two nights. The room was small, which is typical for a Japanese hotel, but the bathroom was exceptionally large. This may have been because it was on the 16th floor, which is the Executive Floor. The hotel staff was very pleasant and accomodating. The "Western style" breakfast was okay. They also serve... more

We stayed for 3 nights in this Hotel and the general impression was excellent. The rooms were well appointed, but the standard room we had was not as large as we had hoped for. The location of the Hotel is down a side street and the initial impression is that one has come to a Hotel just off or outside... more

I recently returned from a 9-night stay at this hotel as part of a tour group and was extremely pleased with its services, staff and amenities. The hotel is very modern and comfortably appointed. Our room was large and had an especially nice shower and bath (everyone in our group raved about the water pressure and the roomy shower room).... more
