The hotel is simple but good on the first sight. Rooms are spacious which is rare for Japan, there are kimonos provided for every guest, but... There was a sofa in our room which was covered with a blanket/bedspread. I was feeling cold durng the night and take it to warm up and... that was the worst part of all... More

We stayed in an Japanese style room from 7-11 Apr 2013. The room was tiny, but clean and bath box could accommodate 1 person at the same time and hosted everything one would need (including a very short tube). Actually, Japanese style rooms might note be for everyone, because one sleeps quite hard and the body might need some nights... More

If you are looking for a cheap place to stay in a great location, this is it. Don't expect anything else though. I was disappointed with the quality of the room but I guess this is what you get for a cheap rate. I chose a Japanese room which was quite spacious. You have to lay out the futons and... More

The Traveler's Inn is in a great area. The Modern Museum is just across the street. Just a few minutes north of that is the Heian Shrine. Some other temple areas are a little farther away and are easily accessed by walking (but just as easy to take a bus or taxi) are: the silver temple to the northeast, Nanzenji... More

I was very lucky to get a place to stay in Kyoto during the Labor Day weekend in November when it was swamped with tourists and hardly anything was available even two months before on any booking website. Otherwise the Inn would not probably be my first choice, but I don't regret staying there. It is situated in the eastern... More

As the name says, it's an inn and it is not exactly like the big fancy hotels around the Kyoto Station. It is, however, many other good things: great location, friendly staff, and convenient. The Higashiyama subway station is nearby (about 10 mins walk) and the bus stop is even closer (2 mins walk!). From the hotel, visitors can either... More

This is not a fancy hotel, BUT, it has a great location, an excellent staff and a very reasonable price. I originally intended to stay in Kyoto for only 3 days, but decided to add 2 more nights to my reservation after falling in love with the town. The room was fine, my view was of a canal and not... I'm a frequent traveler to Japan and lived in Kyoto for one year. I just discovered the Kyoto Traveler's Inn and stayed there for 3 nights. I highly recommend it for its access (a short, pleasant walk along a canal to a subway station, or 20 minute walk to "downtown"), location (near the lovely Higashiyama mountains and neighborhoods of eastern... Well placed between the two most important turistic areas ok Kyoto (south- and north-bound), Traveler's Inn is not difficult to reach. 6 metro stations from Kyoto main Station (cost 250 Yen - 2 lines, green and red), about 20 minutes, to get to Higashiyama station, than just 10 mins walking. 20 mins walking from the city River, 30 from the... Kyoto is quite expensive and for a budget hotel the room prices are pretty high (at least according to my european standards). However it is difficult to find something cheaper in Kyoto. Having premised that, we had a wonderful experience at the Kyoto traveler's inn. We booked a traditional japanese room with tatami flooring and futons and we loved it:... More
