We had a standard twin room and this gave us plenty of space (we were in Kyoto for 2 weeks). 2 beds are provided which are both large enough for 2 to share, so this is probably the best way to get a decent sized room for 2 (rather than a double), but still be able to share a bed.... more

First off, it was good location. Located by the subway stop which can bring you to all the major areas. Good value for the amenities that are offered. It is located by 7-11, some restaurants which is a plus. They have 3 free computers with internet access and free bike rentals. The room was clean and bonus for the ladies,... more

I chose to stay here 2 nights when there no room available on Sat/Sun in my first choice The Palace side hotel and after going through all the review about this hotel. I totally again with past reviewers, it's new, clean and comfortable, big TV with BBC news. Good location, many mini-mart around the areas. From Karasuma Oike station Exit... more

The Hearton is well located for the centre of Kyoto: - three stops from the main train station on the metro - easy walking distance to the city centre sights - close (walking distance) to some great restaurants and nightlife OK, the rooms are small, but the price is also pretty low compared to other hotels - you get what... more

After six nights in this hotel, we are happy to give it full marks. However, rooms in Japan are much more compact than in Australa or the States so initial expectations may let you down. You're not there to live in the room anyway! The positives... The location is perfect for visiting ANYWHERE in the entire Kansai region as it... more

Very good hotel, close enough walk to eating areas central Kyoto. Sightseeing areas best to hire free bikes from hotel, do this the first day you arrive as some days are booked out. Most of the city is flat so bikes were excellent was of getting around. Hotel is very close to metro stop from Kyoto station. No complaints except... more

OK, first I will go over good points. 3 computers with public Internet access (free), well-stocked vending machines and 3 guest laundry machines - all very useful things that I was missing in another budget hotel we stayed at in Tokyo. Location was OK. It was right on the intersection of two major subway lines. Unfortunately, those lines lead nowhere.... more

Not easiest to find, but good sized clean rooms with a all that is needed. Comfortable beds. Kids turned on the TV that went straight to Adult stations though! Right near subway, but away from bus stops, so you need a bus and train pass to get around easily. These are available at the subway station. From Kyoto station take... more

The Hearton is a non-nonsense, no frills hotel that is clean and well run. I stayed in a single room that was the perfect size for a solo traveler. The room, which included a fridge, was clean and well kept during my stay and housekeeping always did a nice job with their daily service. Free wireless, or wired Internet access... more

This was a very clean hotel. This is a hotel that has many of the familiarities of a hotel back in the US for a very affordable price. Close to the Subway and in a very clean neighborhood, although Kyoto is a very clean town in general . The only downside was the proximity of a variety of restaurants. There... more
