Was in Kyoto for peak weekend of leaf change (red leaves) and was lucky to get this room. Having said that, hotel rooms small, dated, stained and stale, terrible mattress. This is mostly, i think, a hotel for Japanese businessmen. Nice location one subway stop from Kyoto station. Easy to get around. Wouldn't pick this place if rooms were easier... More

Our room was small and very overpriced - even for Japan. Staff were helpful, but not particularly so - nor friendly. Public bath was nicely adorned, but twice the water was not hot. It was a good location - 20 minute walk from train station. They have helpful maps. More

For westeners this would not be the best choice. The staff is sweet and helpful but the hotel is bare bones for those that need a gentle intro to Japan. I was the only westerner in the hotel during my stay and being the I was flying solo it made it more difficult. The staff is wonderful and tried their... More

My wife and I spent 7 days here in early November. The rooms are large for the price and the hotel has a nice japanese bath on the top floor. The location is sousth of mych of the action but it is within a block of the major subway and bus lines so you can get anywhere. Staff was very... More

I spent 7 nights at this hotel mid June, 2011, and was very pleased with my experience. The room was about the size I expected, and is comparable to what you will find in the area. The location is convenient if you are planning on seeing the many sights Kyoto has to offer, since you are within walking distance from... More

The location of the hotel is close to the Metro and only one metro station from Kyoto Central Station. The area has some nice temples but it is in between downtown and the central station so there is not much happening there. We found ourselves gravitating towards downtown to find restaurants for breakfast and dinner. The room was very average... More

The hotel has seen better days. The room smelled of cigarettes, even though it was no smoking, the pale pink carpet was stained, and the whole place is dumpy. But it's in a great location and how much time do you spend in the room? The furnishings were fine. The staff are helpful and nice, we kept our luggage there... More

The Aranvert was not the fanciest hotel I have ever stayed in, but it was just what we needed for a five-day home base in Kyoto - clean, friendly, and in a great location. The room was smallish, basically what you would expect in Japan and the room, as well as the hotel decor in general, could use a bit... More
