If you're looking for an amazing ryokan experience but are put off by the usual prices, this is the place for you. We paid about £40 per night for a room for the two of us, and we couldn't have asked for a more lovely place to stay!
Our room was incredible - we arrived to tea laid out on a low table in a spacious room with tatami flooring, roll-out beds and kimono style nightwear provided.
the room also had a shoji screen (sliding paper screen door) leading to a very light kind of indoor balcony overlooking the street.
the room also had a fridge, whcih was handy, and the bathroom was clean too. i think it was supposed to be shared but as there was no one in the opposite room we had the place to ourselves. there was also a laundry.
the ryokan is a very short walk from the station and some lovely small temples. the walk to the main [older] town centre is slightly longer but very much walkable! we went there on foot every day and it was fine...
