Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

This is a small boutique hotel but not too small. The hotel provides shuttle service to and from the airport and will be waiting for you with a sign. Very easy to find. The staff is very friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. The rooms are very clean and modern. Larger than I have seen in Europe. Beautiful wood tones make it extremely comfortable along with a very nice bed and closet space. Location is perfect only a block to the National Museum and National Mosque. The mosque is beautiful and you do not have to be Muslim to visit it, but dress in order to be culturally sensitive. Men can wear anything outside and women should have shoulders to knees covered. A hijab is not necessary. The Somerset was very helpful in helping us to be culturally sensitive. The hotel also has an excellent restaurant rated the best in Male. They offer everything from continental cuisine to traditional dishes of the area, which you should indulge in. Prices are excellent. I give The Somerset my strongest review. They absolutely support their motto - “Service is not our job, it is our pleasure!

Stopped here for 2 nights before venturing on to another atoll - wish we had stayed instead of moving on!! In the centre of busy Male on a quiet street opposite the school and near the Museum. First class service, rooms clean and comfortable. Staff are excellent and helpfull. There is also a lovely restaurant attached, best holiday hotel I have been in. Collected from and driven back to the airport by staff. Very highly recommended.

Loved our stay at the Somerset Hotel. They picked us up from the airport with no hassle, it was raining when we were picked up so they ensured we got into the hotel without getting wet (the staff member parked the van right next to the entrance) and then gave us a welcome drink on arrival. I greatly appreciate Shaya's kindness and assistance upon checking in. Afzal showed us to our room with our bags and explained to us how to order room service if we required. All the staff were kind and went out of their way to make it a great stay. The hotel was clean and modern. The bathroom was particularly nice with a large shower. The beds were comfy and the robes and slippers were a nice touch.

The rooms were comfortable and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The housekeeping supervisor Afzal made sure the room was clean and the sheets were fresh. The restaurant staff also were very supportive and kind. They were Ana, Prashanth, Mehedi, Bento and Noor. A lovely experience.

The given rooms had no great view, mainly because of the location of the hotel. But despite that, the food was fantastic, and the service was really good as well. The entrance of the hotel is pretty small and compact but the decorations were creative with the limited space they had. And the quality of the rooms were comfortable, manageable, and exquisite. Definitely a worth stay for an affordable night at an amazing hotel.

I stayed one night prior to a liveaboard experience. The pickup from the airport was good - I had reached out to the hotel via email prior and though I never heard back, they were waiting for me after clearing immigration. Due to the layout of the airport, we did have to wait for the vehicle to return, but that was minor. The room itself was clean and perfect for my needs. Breakfast the next morning was included - either ala carte or via the buffet (which wasn't very big but had plenty of options to choose from). The staff was very friendly and overall, I would not only recommend this hotel but would stay again for a future visit.

This hotel is in the middle of Male, which is built up and busy. The hotel is down a side street and is unassuming, but you get a warm welcome and the service is excellent. The rooms don’t have a “view”, but the rooms are clean and comfortable, with air conditioning and good size TV. The bathrooms too are clean with good showers, with good quality shampoo/ soaps and body lotion. The restaurant is excellent, a good selection of food all of which was well cooked. There is a good selection for breakfast, cereals, pastries, yogurt, fruit and cooked breakfast to order. Service too is excellent. Ideal for a business trip.

Well sited hotel for a week’s business trip. Excellent value, marvellous staff, very good restaurant (particularly on Thursday nights), comfortable rooms (if slightly small) and well equipped with complementary water and very tasty Nespresso coffee. Aircon & ceiling fans all very effective, bathroom rather bijou but no issues for single occupancy. Breakfasts also highly commended, all service very slick & helpful. Even the muezzin had a mellifluous baritone and was not intrusive at all.
