Main things this hotel has going for it are LOCATION, friendly and accommodating STAFF, and a very nice and clean POOL. That's about it though. This is not a fancy establishment... Not even close actually. We had an unfortunate experience on our first night here. We arrived rather late from another city to Bodrum, where we planned to stay for the last 3 days of our honeymoon to relax after all the sight-seeing we had done. A travel agency in Istanbul, Road Runner Travel, planned our entire trip for us so they booked all hotels. After having stayed at several hotels on our trip south from Istanbul, my husband and I were disappointed with the room we were initially assigned at Bodrum Blu. The walk to the room was scary because the lights didn't even work, once we got to our room we were in a very dark hallway and it was difficult for even the manager to open the door. Once he opened the door boy were we upset. The room was extremely small, there was barely any room to walk around the bed, and even more disappointing was the fact that the bathroom itself was the shower (pics being posted). Thankfully I had brought some old flip flops to use while showering. I had never seen anything like it. Some other things we didn't like were that there was no fridge or safe in the room, no phone to call the reception desk, and a view of a brick wall from our window. Also, the wifi connection in the room didnt work. As you can imagine, we did not expect this at all considering we were supposed to be enjoying our last few days of our honeymoon there. I sent a very upset email to our travel agent and then we decided to just forget about the room and enjoy the city. The owner, Nazmir, was very helpful and kind and he told us in what direction to go. The hotel is just a 5 minute walk from the water where all the restaurants are, which we came to realize is a very nice location considering that closer hotels may be too close to the noise. When we returned back from our night out, very sad to go to our room and with the intention of asking for a bigger room, our travel agent had already reached out to the owner who was SO ACCOMMODATING that we felt bad! He promised to upgrade us to another room the following day without us even asking for a bigger room. We woke up late the next day and Nazir quickly arranged for our change in room and even offered us coffee even though we had slept past the breakfast time, which was just bread, olives, and tomatoes. We were very happy with the room change, especially since the owner and his staff were just amazing. The room was bigger, had a fridge, still no safe, but slightly better wifi connection. Most importantly, the bathroom actually had a shower stall. The water pressure in the shower was perfect and so was the AC - It got cool very quickly which was really nice considering how hot it was in Bodrum even during nighttime. When we arrived that day from some sightseeing and relaxing time by the sea, we jumped in the pool which was VERY refreshing. And when we walked back into our room the staff had placed flower petals on our bed and floor, and left a nice bottle of Chianti and a fruit spread for us to enjoy. It was such a LOVELY and THOUGHTFUL gesture. We were so impressed. They tried very hard to make the last few days of our honeymoon perfect and we really appreciate them for it. We enjoyed our stay here mostly because of location and access to restaurants as well as the very friendly and accommodating staff. Just don't expect anything fancy if you book here, especially if you book one of the smaller rooms. Whatever room you get though, expect amazing service. PS - My husband and I think people actually live at the hotel. We saw a few families with younger children who were very friendly with the owner and staff. Kids were often diving in the pool as well as some other men, and we noticed the owner yelling at them at one point maybe because they were splashing water all over and he was worried about us being bothered by it, which was nice. There's also a lot of men who seem to hang out at the hotel often, specifically by the pool. We really couldn't tell it they lived there or were visiting but they all seemed to know each other. Oh, and for the females reading this I must've been the only woman in the pool during the times we went in, which felt a little awkward at times... I was OK because I was with my husband but had I been by myself or with a female friend not sure I would've felt as comfortable.…
