My boyfriend and I decided to celebrate Valentine's Day with a trip to the NC Zoo. We're both animal lovers, and we were looking to do something a little unorthodox and fun.

I found the Bouldin House through the NC Zoo website (I think its under their reccomended lodging), and it was delightful. The rooms are small based on the pictures online (we stayed in the Wellington Room, and while it was comfortable, the shower was tiny, and the king bed took up almost the entire room!) Regardless of that, it was very clean and home-y.

The owner was absolutely amazing. Her breakfasts were delicious and like 3 course meals! She was also very good at reccomending places to eat in town, and thanks to her, we stumbled into lovely, local restaurants with great food instead of just hitting up the local Outback because it was easy and convenient.

Also, we chose the NC Zoo option, and for $50 more, we had 2 tickets to the Zoo, and she packed us a picnic lunch. The lunch... more
