I was in town on business. I stayed at this hotel as it was in very close proximity to my client. I spent 5 nights so I am pretty confident in my analysis. If you are a business traveler let me just warn you that apparently, this hotel doubles as a college dorm for the University of Akron, wish I... More

While the Quaker Square Inn at The University of Akron is NOWHERE near as bad as some reviewers suggest, I did find that the total experience is somewhat less now that it was when my tour group first visited this property back when it was a Crowne Plaza a few years back. As my group of 50 discovered when we... More

I haven't stayed here in many years, but TripAdvisor asked me for the quirkiest place I've ever stayed, which has to be this converted silo in Akron, Ohio. I'm going to rate everything as "good" because that's what it was when I visited, but please take this with the knowledge that I have not stayed there for quite a few... More

This hotel's only saving grace would be to sell to someone who know how to manage a hotel. I have never been treated so poorly by an establishment !. The room was NOT what I was told, the beds were so small and uncomfortable we did not sleep. the room was tiny and dirty. I went to the front desk... More

While the marketing team at this God-forsaken former industrial park tried to put a positive spin on the experience ("Sleep in a Silo!"), sleeping in this particular silo means spending time in a claustrophobic and windowless pie-shaped space with stained rugs, mildewed bathrooms, dim compact-fluorescent lighting, and worn furniture from Walmart. My room was truly bunker-like, with little natural (or... More

Stayed 22-24 September 11. We found out why it is so hard to get any reservations to the once famous Quaker Square Inn. Akron University purchased the property and has turned it into a Dormitory (Student Residence) apparently due to the fact the university built a new stadium and in the process lost over 200+ dorm rooms and 500 parking... We went to this hotel and stayed here from August 30th to September 1st, 2011. 12 stories tall and located almost directly across campus. Lot of students going in and out which bothered me and the price is expensive ($159.00 a night for a standard King) but you can't expect cheap prices near a university. Ended up getting lost once... If you enjoy unusual hotels, you may get a kick out of a night in a round room that was a former Quaker Oats silo. The quality of this hotel is on par with a budget chain--Days Inn. Putting aside the novelty aspect, it's definitely overpriced. I generally stay exclusively at Hampton Inns or other Hilton properties, and this hotel... More

We stopped here while driving through Ohio late at night. We admit it made it much more creepier that it was so late. The room we stayed in only had a window to the lobby so it was super dark. EVERY thing was outdated and the layout, due to the round rooms, is strange. I would never recommend this to... More

The good: ideal location for anyone doing business downtown or with the University of Akron; cordial and helpful staff; close-in parking + a decent breakfast buffet included in rate; well-appointed room; nicely maintained public areas. We schlepped our own luggage using one of the hotel carts. Possible negative: Freight trains regularly traverse the tracks less than 100 yards in back... More
