Well this is more like it, prefer these smaller boutique hotels, places with something unique and characterful. After a week of festivities, relocating to this place in the SoCo district was just the tonic. Surrounded by wonderful diners, great shopping and quirky boutiques, the Austin Motel exudes charm and a more personal touch. It may be a tatted-up hipster location,... More

We stayed 3 nights at Austin Motel, fully enjoyed our stay... we had one of the small rooms for $85 each night and loved it. You can walk to many stores and resturants and if you like you can walk to 6th street, we did twice and I am very overweight.... This place is a bargin and I will be... More

I had a blast staying here! But the rooms are the extreme form of retro. They are funky and colorful. The "old seventies chair" in the corner really is an old seventies chair. If you prefer the 2012 version of the old Dodge Challenger, don't stay here. If you like the original muscle car, and don't mind a little rust... More

That's what you're getting when you stay at this Austin institution. The room is clean and BASIC. When I called to make the reservation (no online reservation system)-I asked if there was a coffee maker in the room since I didn't see that on the list of amenities (and I'm a caffeine addict/fiend) and was told "no". No problem-we just... More

Our room was decorated southwestern. Clean, basic and comfortable. We found staff to be very friendly. The maid went out of her way for us. Restaurants and shops walking distance. We would return. More

We have been there with family from italy, the place is basic, not really clean but for 1 night is ok. Great location and restaurant choice around is great. I would go back if in need. More

For a first-time visitor, this motel was heaven. Fun, artful, very friendly helpful staff, perfect location! We stayed in two rooms: 262 and 117. Both were clean and comfortable. The place was booked for the NYE weekend, but the manager found us a great room to extend our stay. First come, first serve. The motel is right next to Jo's... More

We stayed at the Austin Motel for nearly a week while visiting a niece who lived nearby. Located right in the heart of the SoCo neighborhood, we could easily walk to dozens of little shops and restaurants. The staff was pleasant and the rooms were clean. At $100/night, it was hard to beat the price for a downtown location. Just... More

We've stayed here twice now and it's our go-to spot in Austin. It's not luxury accommodation by any stretch, but it's comfortable, clean, and close to what we want to do. The best bit is you can wander across to the Continental Club whenever you want.:) we stayed in room 119 this time, and for a few dollars more than... More

Austin was the starting point of our road trip across Texas. The Austin Motel is a 25 minute drive from the airport. It is situated on South Congress about a mile from downtown. The guys are not keen on email and they tell you this when you make your reservation. It fact, they only booked us for one night when... More
