This is a very nice place to stay very close to the Unuversity of Texas. The room was very comfortable and the breakfast by Penelope was great. We left some belongings by mistake and Sylvia and Chris the owners were wonderful in forwarding them to our home. Very convient location. Woould recommend this house to stay anytime. more

My family enjoys B&B's; however, this is one Inn to which we will not return. All towels that we were given during our stay smelled strongly of mold and on several occasions, caused the entire room to smell nasty. The rooms are extremely small, dark, and cramped. The entire place is depressing and a bit creepy. Parking is in the... more

The bed is one of the most comfortable we ever slept in. The decor of the room as well as the entire house was terrific. The staff are wonderful and prepared a delicious breakfast. You feel as if you are coming home after checking out the sites in Austin. It's located near the UT and downtown. Got the munchies? Raid... more

This B&B had standard amemnities. Rooms more like hotel rooms (with TVs) in some ways. It could stand being spruced up. The shabbiness has a somewhat homey quality, but the grimey windows coupled with the very weird art made the place seem depressing to me. A lot of the "folk art" involves distorted visages in odd colors that are a... more

My husband and I loved this little B&B! The staff was friendly, helpful and efficient, the rooms were clean and comfortable, breakfast was always fresh and tasty, there's internet available throughout, and the location was great. There were always fresh baked cookies in the hall. We came down for our honeymoon at the South By Southwest Music Festival and found... more

Unfortunately, the back of the Austin Folk House is next to a large student housing complex. It was extremely noisy, and I could hear every conversation that took place in the parking lot, and I was on the second floor. The management provides earplugs; however, the noise was so great that I only slept one of the four nights I... more

We stayed for three nights in mid-April, in room 7. The rooms are small, smaller than they look online, but having said that they are cosy and the beds are very comfortable. The strange thing was that the owners appeared never to come near the place. We met the two young men who prepared the breakfast, but other than speaking... more

We spent a few nights at the Austin Folk House on a UT Austin-related business trip in Room #9. The good: - great breakfasts! Pear crepes, blueberry pancakes, big selection of teas and continental breakfast type foods - on UT Austin's campus - nice, clean bathroom with robes - nice porch to hang out on - comfy mattress The bad:... more

This is a lovely property and every amenity is provided, especially in the bathroom. Very homey, comfortable, vintage feel. Very convenient to UT and the Towers dorm, where my son lives. The breakfast looked fabulous but I was in a hurry and grabbed a couple of items on a napkin. If everything else was as good as those samples, I... more

My wife and I recently enjoyed staying at the Austin Folk House. The bed was comfortable and the room was well-equipped. The breakfast was delicious in a "home-like" dining room. The staff was friendly and there were no porblems checking in or out. The location was great, but was a little loud. Overall, I recommend this B&B. more
