My husband and I stayed here one night while on a bicycle trip through central Virginia in early March. Loved the beautiful grounds and setting, and the Cadet room with its history. As historic preservation fans, we applaud the owners for bringing this historic property back to life. The rooms are large and beautifully furnished, but with all the modern amenities.... More

Our stay at Winterham was perfect. Our host, Rhonda was warm and graciuous. She joined us for breakfast making a perfect meal even better. We stayed in three B@B's that week and breakfast here was by far the best. The "isolation" of the place was perfect for my wife and I who enjoyed being the only guests that night. We... More

My son and daughter-in-law were married yesterday at Winterham Plantation. The backdrop and scenery was superb and so peaceful. The bridal party of 16 arrived Friday afternoon and all had lovely accomadations for the entire weekend. A rehearsal dinner was held outside in an event tent including a large dance floor. A superb breakfast was provided by the owners of... More

I found this b&b on line, it is in the middle of nowhere in Amelia, VA. and what a surprise. The house is perfectly restored and authentic, it is full of paintings. The owners are just wonderful, engaging and generous. My room was spacious with a fire place, full of windows just charming and airy. The bathroom was newly restored.... More

The Winterham was a perfect match for us, an authentic beautifully and lovingly restored plantation house. Kind and attentive hosts who made us feel part of their family, excellent breakfast and a walk in art gallery, with paintings and prints covering all the walls. Brilliant.

My husband and I celebrated our first anniversary at Winterham and it was exactly what we both needed. Winterham allowed us a chance to just kick back and relax. We had the option of going back to Richmond for entertainement or visit Farmville for a little antique shopping suggested by our host. We chose Farmville and we were glad we... More

Winterham Plantation is a restored mansion built in 1855 by a member of the Jefferson family. A few years ago the only residents were local pigeons, but now I would encourage you to spend a night or two here to experience a truly unique and stunning home. The house has been lovingly restored to its former glory (with some additions... More

My husband and I spent a lovely romantic weekend at Winterham, spolied slightly by cold, foggy weather- perhaps to be expected in late February. As an historic preservationist, I particularly appreciated the antiques and the excellent authentic renovation, The house has been tastefully adapted to 21st century needs. Dr. and Mrs. Hadley, the owners, are friendly, fascinating, well-educated people and... More

I was trying to plan a nice getaway for me and my boyfriend. We had been dating a year and wanted to celebrate it so, both being environmental majors in college, thought we would mine some minerals. I called the hotel and asked if there were any other properties and was told they were the only one. They aren't. They... More
