This place was so cute! I hate to use that word in a review but really there is no other to describe it. The staff was so nice and helpful, the house was clean and had a nice dorm room and bathrooms. “Kamejikan” is the only guest house located in old Kamakura area. The building is 85 years old and originally built as a residence for a wealthy family. It was renovated into a guest house in April 2011. The carpenter who built the building specialized in temples and shrines which reflects throughout the building with similar characteristics including a large shrine inside.The guest house was named “Kamejikan” which means “turtle time” in Japanese. The name was given in hopes that the guests would spend relaxing times here and remember the slow flow time in the old days. You would enjoy staying at the traditional Japanese wooden architecture.We welcome you to visit us at “kamejikan”.
