Location was ideal, in a relatively safe part of town. Most staff except for maybe one lady were unfriendly and unhelpful. The manager was very rude and disrespectful. The owner did not honor my reservation at the beginning and it wasted a lot of my time. Breakfast was stingy and rationed out, not a good deal for money given the... More

We moved to a nearby hotel. Just a little bit more money for a proper hotel room. This place has the hostel monopoly in Belem, so the prices are higher than they should be. But I would recommend, in light of this, saying a bit extra for a hotel. The reception staff were quite unfriendly. Not unfriendly, more, uninterested.

This place is an expensive construction site , dirty and unfriendly , the price charged was a joke R 100 for a double room with filthy bathroom and communal kitchen . Having just traveled , we were tired and just wanted a bed and shower ... Wish we had of just gone down the road a bit to a nice... More

Don't expect to be greeted with kindness or a word of English. Instead, we paid, after some bargaining R$110. (down from R$125.) for a double rooom with a very dirty unkempt bathroom - shower head literally over toilet seat! One towel happened to be on the bed in the room, however, they were hiring them out at reception for an... More

These guys are really kidding themselves by charging $R59 or even $R49 for HI members for their dorm rooms. The hostel was more like a haunted house. The building is really pretty but that certainly does not warrant the exorbitant price. The staff were apathetic and absent, the bathrooms were not cleaned daily, and were in terrible conditions with demountable... More

Upon arrival we were put through a check in process that took almost an hour during which staff were confused, did not understand we had paid a deposit and had to share the task between three staff members. Our dorm room stank like mould, the bathrooms were cramped and the included breakfast was a joke - rationed out, not buffet... More

Open living room, so make sure you have insect repellent during the appropriate season. I got more bug bites here in a couple days than a week in the Amazon. That much said the accommodations were excellent. Being off season in February, I had the dorm to myself and there were only 2 or 3 other travelers in the hostel.... More

The Amazonia hotel was a perfect safe haven for our first few days in Brazil. The staff speaks english and is more than helpfull to tell about all the great places Belem has to offer and how to get there. And they will also warn you adequatly wich places to avoid (especially on sundayafternoon). They will even help you book... More
