El Misti is cheap. The location is fine, being a middle income area of Rio. The hostel is near a big shopping mall, which all the locals were keen to recommend as the place to buy dinner. When I couldn't book a bed in the hostel I had stayed in in my previous trip to the "Cidade Maravilhosa" I had to grab the closest one. It was a fortunate choice.
