Does exactly what it says on the tin. Nice spot and breakfast is class. Be careful in Rio. Had a gun pointed to my head but as advised carried out enough for the night and spent every penny of it. Leave everything in hotel safe (own safe in room). Not a bad area, this can happen anywhere. Spilled out my... more

I'd agree with most of the other comments here. This isn't the most luxurious place I've stayed in. It seems like some of the rooms are more dated than others. Ours was on the 8th floor and although clean and reasonably sized (although a little oddily laid out) had seen better days! The card for the lights was annoyingly erratic... more

Really pleased with this hotel, located in the middle of Copacabana and Ipanema, everything is easily within walking distance. Per Night cost: For 3 people in a single room was $100 usd per night, which includes breakfast. Room Service: Room has a refrigerator with some drinks and some snacks on the shelf for purchase. There is a menu for room... more

We booked for six nights, based on price and location. It is perfectly situated for the beaches of Copacabana and Ipanema. Ipanema was our clear favourite. Our room, 605 had a bad smell to it, but so did the whole hallway on that floor. The fan/aircon took some of it away, but it was noticable upon entering the room, even... more

Location, location, location - Ipanema and Copacabana on your doorstep. Really liked staying here in Rio (though the weather was awful) - hotel staff mostly friendly (particularly an older gentleman on the door), great pool, nice rooms, seriously quality breakfast. A safe area to walk around too - if you're not in the mega-bucks category, hard to go wrong with... more

I spent two nights in the Atlantis Copacabana Hotel towards the end of March 2007, before heading to Búzios. In the past I've stayed at Sol Ipanema and Praia Ipanema, both very nice hotels. This time I decided to splurge a bit on my pousada in Búzios, and not spend so much in Rio de Janeiro. The Atlantis Copacabana was... more

We spent 4 nights in this hotel. The location is excellent - 3 minutes walking to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches. The neighborhood seems to be safer than the rest of Copacabana, although we did not walked around much. The hotel itself worths more than 3 stars, and after being in 3 star hotels in Argentina, it was a very... more

The Atlantis Copacabana exceeded my expectations for a few reasons. First, the location is great. It is about 5 blocks from either Ipanema or Copacabana beach. Both beach neighborhoods are have many restaurants and bars as well as for stores, drug stores, and fast food places. Everything is within a 5-10 minute walk. The neighborhood is also mostly residential. I... more

Fabulous caiparinas on the roof of the hotel at sunset was a great end to our day and a superb start to our evening. The pool was smallish but just right for our 2 year old son to splash around, our friends 7year to jump in and us to have a dip in when it got to hot... The view... more

The location is perfect- easy access to Ipanema (2 blocks) and Copacabana beaches (3 blocks), and located in a safe residential area. The lobby is elegant and much nicer than I had expected for the price and the staff were exceptionally courteous and spoke some English. The rooftop pool area was absolutely beatiful, with a view of Ipanema beach and... more
