The Rio Copa was great! We were there for 1 week. It was an easy walk to the beach. There was a view of the beach from the pool area on the roof. The breakfast was good buffet style 1 hot dish then breads and cereals etc. Breakfast service was excellent. The overall service in the hotel was excellent. We... more

Previous entries have been mixed. Best Western has bought the Rio Copa so it's now the Best Western Rio Copa. It is stragetically located to bus/metro/taxi locations. Take your pick. Recent renovations have elevated them to a 4-star rating. I stayed during Carnival so I was soaked at $200 a night during the "big nights" but the drop to $99... more

So, this was my first time in Rio so I wanted to get to know all the different hoods such as Copacabana and Ipanema, therefore I booked for 4 nights at mar ipanema hotel and 3 nights at BW Rio Copa Hotel! both hotels were very nice. The rooms at Rio Copa are slightly bigger though and also nice decorated.... more

Booked with hotel via email and Skype. Gave credit card details. Hotel refused to organise a car to meet me at the airport. Can't be bothered to use Yellow Pages. After I had left Australia the hotel then wanted a photo copy of my credit card (front and back) or the wouldn't keep the room. "It is the law" they... more

Rio Copa Hotel was overall ok. The rooms are ok. Not very modern but clean. The breakfast is a really Brazilian style with lot of fruits and all kind of breads. The price is a bit expensive but seems to be that is Brazilian economy to be growing enormously. more

The hotel itself is ok, good enough to sleep/shower, since nobody on holidays want to stay in a hotel room. The breakfast is decent, and the staff is polite and helpful. The thing is Copacabana, especially the avenue this hotel is located, is awful. It's a tourist trap. Although you see police around, when it comes to the crunch they... more

Definitely below standards. Website is very misleading re facilities eg the health centre very small with only 2 machines and a pond for a swimming pool, noisy ,red light district etc. Our stay was definitely not very enjoyable. I would recommend that travellers used to good hotels rather book at Ipanema, better locatiom with a better beach. Definitely shop around... more

The hotel was booked through our travel agency. This was the only hotel avail during the time period we were in Rio. If you travel frequently and are used to great hotels pass on this one ... Rooms are noisy . We experienced (out of control) guests in the room next to us having loud gatherings around 12:00 am. You... more

My wife and I stayed here for two nights post cruise from Europe. The hotel is well-located, close to Copacabana beach and on several bus routes to get you around this very lively city. We had been warned about the pickpockets etc., in Rio but that has been taken care of by the creation of Tourist Police who are everywhere.... more

We stayed here for three nights. Location is good - very easy access to Copacabana beach. Meridian is a good landmark. Rooms are comfortable and well equipped and ours was a good size. Reception quite good, but the star of the show is the guy on the door. Like having your dad look after you - not just getting the... more
