Hotel is in a good and safe location. I can't believe it's a 4 star hotel though. It's grotty and poorly maintained, and full of rather strange (and unpleasant) smells. On the plus side, the breakfast is simple but good (lots of fresh fruit) and the reception staff are helpful and nice. The main advice I must give is that... more

Yes, it seems like a good rate for a four-star hotel, but don’t be fooled by internet pictures and false promises. The Royalty Copacabana Hotel is a rundown hotel with a decent location (if you want to stay in the Copacabana area that is). One of the few highlights was André in the reception. He really tried his best to... more

For the first overseatrip of my parents, Brasil and Rio were a good destination. After a great New Year in the North East of Brasil, we decided to spend 5 days in Rio. We can say now that the city is interesting, the sightseeings very great, but the Royalty Copacabana Hotel is a DESASTER. We never found the great installations... more

Everything great, a very simple but nice place to stay! Breakfast was nice and also staff, excepting one receptionist (awful treatment, nothing gentle and unprofessional)... after that, everyone was so nice with us!! Visit it, it worth the price paid! more

We booked this hotel through a travel agent and stayed there for 3 nights. We were greeted by a very busy front desk receptionist who was multi-tasking at the point of taking care of our check-in. She spoke good English though. The hotel was solidly booked with travelers from various countries. It was therefore very noisy especially in the evening... more

Please view the pictures. These pictures only begin to show how horrible the hotel was. Thje AC didn't work, when the fixed it, ice was spitting out, it took 4 tries to band-aid the AC. There was mildew and mold in many places in the shower and bathroom. The furniture was very out-dated, and some was broken, or missing pieces.... more

We booked a package to Rio that included three nights at this hotel. We arrived very late- after midnight- and the front desk was very friendly and well prepared for our voucher. The location is about 3 blocks from the beach in a semi-residential neighborhood. The room was quite small with two twin beds very low to the ground and... more

spent five days of the Carnaval at Royalty Copacabana. The room was very average. Beware some floors are undergoing refurbishment!! We requested a change of rooms, but the staff were extremely accomodating to our request. However the location was great! All staff were very helpful and friendly. Breakfasts, rooftop bar & pool were superb. Overall not a bad hotel! more

The Royalty. When you walk in, you are greeted with a funky smell. it must be from the accumulation of smoke and grease over the years. Our rooms, on the 2nd floor, were right next to the "rouparia" where hotel staff wash and fold sheets and towels. Not the best location, as it was noisy for us. The hallways are... more
