I did not enjoy my stay at el misti. apart from the tripple bunkbeds being held together by selotape, the 9 person dorm i stayed in did not have a lock on the door because we were the only room with a bathroom and therefore other guests had full access to our room at all times of the day. yes... more

My partner and I stayed here in October 2008. Rio was the starting point of a 7 week overland trip through South America. Sadly the place was a complete shambles. Firstly, the taxi that was supposed to shuttle us from the airport to the hostel never arrived and we never got a clear explanantion as to why it didn't. This... more

had a really good time at this cool hostel, ideal to meet people and go partying... great buffet breakfast!! 5 minutes from the beach in the heart of copacabana... easy access to public transport metro, bus, etc... I found El Misti to be a great value for the price. The free pick up from the airport essentially made the three nights I stayed here free. I found that the going rate for hotels in Rio was on the high side of my budget, so staying at El Misti made sense. I am an older guy(51), so it... more

This is a homely hostel. You get a lovely free breakfast included in the price, as well as a free pick up from the airport. it was a very good experience to be there. met a lot of people from everywhere. this hostel is cheap and includes breakfast, which is very decent(fruits, oatmeal, bread, sometimes eggs, juices,etc) the room that i had, had 4 beds and the sheets were clean and you have a locker to store your bags. the staff are very very friendly... more

This hostel is the best ever. Me and my mate went travelling for 6 months and so we stayed in a lot of places but this was my favourite by far. We were there for Rio Carnival so that is probably why I loved it so much. It's cheap and not the greatest place for comfort but the staff there... more
