it was not a promising beginning when we arrived pre dawn and our requst for an early check in (made 3 months in advance) was denied (we were willing to pay, and if it was not possible we would like to have been told in advance) but the biggest problem was the attitude of the very unhelpful night manager who... more

Astoria Palace hotel is the newest hotel on Copacabana Beach in Rio. Ideally located a block away from Copacabana Palace Hotel it 's location can't be beat! Pay a little extra for the ocean-view rooms. Although small they're very clean and well-maintained. The A/C can be bit noisy if you're not used to window-a/c's. The breakfast is plentiful with fresh... more

This hotel has a great location, with excellent food alternatives within a short distance. Upgrading to a beach front room is relatively unexpensive (R$100 per night in our case) and is truly worth it. Staff is not the friendliest people I've met, but they do their jobs and we have no complaints regarding them. more

I have stayed 2 days in this hotel and I guess this was the best joice possible in Copacabana for USD 100 (single). Rooms have free wifi internet connection, which I found extremely convenient. It's opposite the beach and centrally located in Copacabana. more

Great location right in the middle of Copacabana. We stayed on the top floor facing the ocean (I would guess the view without the ocean facing rooms would be very disappointing). The room was nice, large bed, lcd tv, large bathroom. Not the most luxurious but certainly a good value. I'd recommend ensuring you get an ocean view. We had... more

There are 2 Hotel Astoria's in Rio which is confusing and having read the reviews of the other one, I think that the raves of that one probably relate to this hotel which is much better located i.e. actually on the beach rather than a street or two behind! We stayed here for a week last week and it was... more

Stayed as part of First Choice tour. Sited right on Cocacabana beach. We had no security issues whilst staying here, but were repeated warned to be careful by our tour guide. Check in was a farce. Took ages. Stayed on 12th floor. View was of some flats built behind the hotel. Room was small, no room to store cases. Mini... more

Pros: The hotel did respond quickly to our complaint when part of the ceiling fell into our shower!!! cons: The place was dirty. The cleaning women never changed our sheets! On a Wednesday afternoon, we had gone to the beach and we had gotten a bit of sand on our sheets. The sand was still there on Saturday!!! The hotel... more

This is a great hotel in the middle of Copacabana beach, just across the streat of the beach. The romms are spacious, clean, have jacuzzi, ocean view rooms have excellent view on the beach. Breakfast is very good, staff friendly and will give you excellent tips where to gou out, as well as safety advice. more

Stayed at the Astoria as part of a package to visit Rio. The hotel is very well placed across the road from the beach. Rooms are very small with no views. Very well appointed though with a great walk in shower, plenty of hot water and breakfast is good. Rio is not what I thought it would be. There are... more
