We stayed in this hotel in December 2007 for one night. But what a night it was! Battambang is off the normal tourist track. We drove, with our guide and driver, from Phnom Penh to Battambang, a four hour drive through nice countryside and numerous villages. The hotel is quite new, with a nice reception area. Our room was quite large and clean. We then went on an excursion to a beautiful temple Wat Banan, located on a mountain side. We returned to the city and walked around the area to look at the French period architecture as described in Lonely Planet. Well, the buildings are not quite “best preserved in the country”. We saw nicer period building in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap. We walked back to the hotel, located near the new iron bridge, quite a walk from downtown.
