Stayed here for 3 nights in April, we arrived on a late flight from Calama and front desk stayed open to check us in. This was our last stop on a trip through Argentina and Chile. The room and grounds of the hotel fit the feel of San Pedro perfectly. The buildings are adobe, and the grounds are extremely well... more

We arrived from the early morning flight to Calama from Santiago on a very busy weekend, and it is possible that the fact that it was Easter weekend was the root of some of our problems here. Reception was extremely busy – we weren’t even offered a drink and had to hunt out one for ourselves. It transpired that drinks... more

Spent three nights here with two friends in a triple room. The room was lovely and cool, as was the bathroom. We had a little roof terrrace that we watched the sunset from. The grounds are amazing and very well kept. The pool is cool and refreshing, which is nice in the heat. Our experince was slightly let down by... more

I stayed at this hotel during a family trip to San Pedro de Atacama. We were delighted with all aspects of this hotel and would recommend it to anyone travelling in this area. I travelled with my husband and two children age 7 and 9 years. The grounds of this hotel were lovely and the rooms were unique and charming.... more

Hotel Altiplanico is a lovely respite from your normal 'luxury' hotel. The rooms are large adobe structures with comfy beds, minimal lighting and a modern, huge bathroom. The highlight of the room for me was the outdoor shower - it was so nice after a long day of hiking to star gaze from the shower! The grounds are relaxing and... more

I stayed at the Altiplanico from February 18 to 22, 2009 (4 nights). It was a great experience, even better than I expected. The whole place is amazing: it’s like a village and the rooms are like small houses, very different among them (I had the opportunity to enjoy 2 different rooms and each one had a different distribution and... more

Let´s just say, if you love country style (and when I say country style I mean bugs on your pillow, dusty floor, ants everywhere, flies on practically everything in the breakfast area) and don´t mind paying the five star price, go ahead. The hotel is cute, but then so are every other hotel in the area. Staffs are very friendly,... more

We arrived from Argentina over the Paso de Jama to this oasis of Chile. The hotel staff (every single one of them) was very friendly and helpful, rooms were spacy, nice, comfortable. Our first room had these lovely sunchairs on the roof, the second room (we booked an extra night) had an extra shower outdoors!. With the excursions in the... more

Just completed a two week tour from desert to Patagonia. Stayed in 9 different hotels and this was the best. Great architecture, well kept gardens, fantastic night sky and don't bother to eat out as the regional food is just great too. more

Hotel Altiplanico is built to resemble a traditional adobe vilage and is situated about 15 minutes walk from the town centre. Our room was large and cool with (in addition to the usual shower) an outside shower that was marvellous for an afternoon spruce-up. There was a cool verandah outside. Rooms were serviced twice a day so towels from afternoon... more
