We originally booked a 4 bed dorm through elong for the Xihai Hotel, but were told by an agent in Tunxi that only a 6 bed room was available and we would need to pay for all beds. So we cancelled and went up the mountain without a booking and ended up staying at the Xihai Villa (opposite the Xihai... more

Huangshan is one of the few famous mountains in China to have actual hotels at its peak. One must keep that in mind when booking. The 4 stars really only reflect the overpriced restaurant and private event facilities. The rooms are very simple, but are okay for a night. If you want luxury, I wouldn't stay overnight on the peak... more

I have to say, overall this place is pretty ordinary. We state at the hotel on 31 Dec 2008, new years eve for us, but just another night in China. we checked into the hotel about 3pm & what become immediatelty obvious was the paper thin walls & the noise that bellowd through these walls. Rooms are very basic, heater... more

We stayed in Xihai as it was a part of the package. This is the closest hotel from the Yungu Cable Car Station after about 2-hour hike at slow pace. None of the staff could communicate in English, but this is to be expected. The room was okay, pretty small. The wall was indeed thin. There was no elevator, so... more

My family and stayed here for one night. We hiked up Huangshan all day and were thankful to have a place to sleep and rest, but Xihai is little bit further on the trail than Beihai. It was ok, considering that it is at the top of huangshan and everything needs to be hiked up. Sheets were clean, bathroom was... more

We used Elong to reserve. We stayed 11/1-11/3. I requested a king and that room at the back of the hotel was horrible!! Stay away from those at all cost!!! I asked for something up front and those are so much better. Twin beds, but we could handle that. The view was great, room was much cleaner, bigger, and no... more

Sorry, it may sound as a spoiled Westerner's complain, but I was greatly disappointed about the XiHai hotel. I live in China, so the culture schock was defintely not there. Yet it was. It was reffered as having the best service from all 4 star hotels on the top of the mountain. I don't want to know how the service... more

I don't think Xi Hai ----- half as much as the other reviews might lead you to believe. I agree, the four star rating isn't right. It's a typical three-star hotel in China. Stained carpet. Smelly bathroom. Thin walls. Maybe they got that fourth star because they have BBC World. And it is way overpriced. But you have to expect... more

Stayed at the Xihai Fandian in late April 2005. The Xihai Fandian is located on top of Huang Shan (Yellow Mountain), which is considered to be the most scenic mountain in China. Huang Shan is located in Anhui Province 280km west of the coastal city of Hangzhou. Huang Shan is indeed very scenic & worth the trip. The Xihai Fandian... more

Please see my comment dated April 6, 2005 for Shilin hotel. Xihai hotel should definitely be downgraded below that of Shilin Hotel. My group of 27 people stayed for one night each at Xihai (March 29, 2005) and Shilin (March 30). We booked a total of 14 rooms. All group members voted unanimously in favor of Shilin. At Xihai Hotel,... more
