Friendly staff, with little english, hotel is in great location overlooking the lake in an area close to all immenities, both western and chinese. Rooms are cheap (I payed RMB 210 per night which included free internet RMB 10 extra)). Unfortunately this hotel has seen better days, many things didnt work, including the 'do not disturb' light, and the room hadnt been cleaned properly for some considerable time. Mouldy shower curtains, tobacco smells everywhere, out of date decor, broken fridge, super HARD mattress etc etc. All of the things I have come to expect from this type of accomodation. Basically if it has 3 stars its an entry-level hotel, with a few basic problems, unlike a 3-star European hotel. But you will get what you pay for, and this place is so central, I think its work the hassle. Zhaoqing doesnt get a lot of foreign tourists, so expect a rousing chorus of 'HELLO' when you get off the train, and plenty of stares from interested by-standers. The lake-side park... more
