The 20 minute walk out of Makarska is all worth while (although not dragging your suitcase at the same time is recommended!) when you arrive at this small guesthouse just on the foothills of Mt. Biokovo.
A warm welcome (and beer) awaited us and when we saw the view from our little balcony we knew we had come to a special place. Mlinice was our favourite guesthouse during our two-week stay in Croatia, and Makarska is an underrated destination (in Lonely Planet anyway- there is hardly a mention). There are well signposted walks up the mountain, and an easy walk down into what is a pretty attractive seaside town.
The meals we ate at Mlinice were again, the best we had during our holiday - and the standard was pretty high! Home-cured Dalmatian ham, and cheese, the best meat and chips and some quite nice wine! Apparently the water is fresh from the mountain springs too.
All in all - just hugely and enthusiastically recommended.
