Having read the review about gluten-free problems (Oct 2008), I thought I wouldn't be able to eat much at the Istra. They do, however, willingly bring (very nice) gluten-free bread if you ask for it. Fabulous location and views, clean modern hotel with lots of food choice and reasonable food quality - all staff were friendly and happy, as indeed were most people we met. The add on freebie's offered by the hotel are good and the regular free boat service made Rovinj easily accessable - Rovinj by the way is also fabulous. more

What a location! The hotel owns two islands and all room has a sea view. 360 degree of sea, so you can pick your own beach although some parts are very rocky and can be seriously dangerous. The hotel seems to be catered mainly for the Germans, so yes, you have to get up early to reserve your sun beds.... more
