Super close to the main temple. The guesthouse is quiet, price is reasonable. The guests are super nice, really. Our room was quiet and clean, with charm. It was a bit small, and no view at all, as we were on ground floor. Restaurant recommended were average, that's why I don't give 5.

After a 1.5 hrs drive from the Bangkok Airport (BKK), our driver could not find this guesthouse. Understandably, its located in a non-descript cul-de-sac. Asked for a 2nd floor room for more security, even my 82 year old mum had no problem with the flight of stairs. Kind receptionist showed us two rooms, the bigger 106 with more steps inside the room and the smaller 105 with no steps. We took 105 instead. Twin beds were comfy, small TV, small fridge, even smaller wash basin (hard to wash clothes in it) inside the bathroom. Strangely, it comes with a big WC?! Bathroom seemed newly renovated. Initially shocked that there was no closet and kettle in the room, we asked and received hangers and a small kettle. No extra mirror in the room other than the bathroom one, a tad disappointed. Nights were quiet other than occasional dog barking and neighbor coming back to the room at 2-3am. We slept fine here with the strong Carrier aircon and thick window shades. Lobby area has light breakfasts daily, changing slightly, like bread, eggs, cakes or local pastries. Coffee & tea all day long. Receptionist was kind in helping to call for a regular tuk tuk driver, where we could rent by the hour, 200 baht/hr to see the sights. Great way to see the ancient city in a faster manner to beat the heat. Also, start early like 8am. Upon departure, book the tuk tuk for the train station, 80 baht. Train tickets are available only on the day of departure but luckily we had arrived at 8.30am for a 9am departure as the train came early at 8.45am for the 2 hours ride to Bangkok. Nice guest house for the great location to night market and two very popular temples right opposite! Stayed for its great location and was not disappointed. Superb value for your money and very nice owners, too!

We had an amazing experience staying at Tamarind, the rooms are very cosy and characterful, the whole house is beautiful and smells of teak wood. The owners are the friendliest and most helpful people we have met-they went out of their way for us and we ended up staying longer than expected. They even gave our kids a lovely snack for the bus journey when we left! Great value and couldn't ask for more-really made our stay in Ayutthaya very special. Thanks Tamarind!

We stay one night in the family room. The room was simple and charming. My children loved climbing over the stairs and found it looks like a tree house. I thought that breakfast was not included but was nicely surprised when I saw that they provide free coffee and a basic breakfast. The location is unbeatable just opposite to all the main temples and close to restaurants and night market. The lady who manages the guesthouse was nice. She booked for us tuk tuk and boat trip, recommended restaurant and rented bikes for us to visit temples.

A quirky guesthouse in an excellent location for the temples and night market . We stayed in superior room A which was clean. Special thanks to the friendly staff. We did not score 5 stars because we could not pay using a credit card. It was cash only. Stairs and steps may be an issue for some people to stay here.

The guest house is located in a quiet side street just off the main road opposite two of Ayyuthayya’s main wats. It’s probably the closest guest house to Mahatat and Ratchaburana. Constructed mainly of wood it feels very old but a member of staff told us it is less than 20 years old (though that could have lost something in translation). Our room was on the first floor, clean and simply furnished with a long enclosed balcony with rack for clothes drying. There are nice seating areas around the guest house and free coffee, toast and fruit on a morning. The lady owner is friendly and helpful, she speaks good English and arranged a mini bus to Kanchanaburi for us and also the obligatory sunset boat trip which was actually very good and worth the money. Downsides- due to the wood construction, noise tends to travel between rooms. If you have noisy neighbours you may need ear plugs to sleep. On our 2nd night, with all surrounding rooms occupied we had no noise. On the previous night we were disturbed by people talking loudly and what sounded like someone coughing up furballs. People need to be considerate when staying in wooden buildings, unfortunately some aren’t. There are a few bars and restaurants within walking distance but Ayyuthayya is quite spread out with no defined nightlife/tourist area and we found tuk tuks quite expensive compared to Bangkok. There are bikes available at the guest house for a small fee and they can arrange scooter rental. In summary its a nice place, helpful owner, close to main historical sites and very enjoyable if you get considerate neighbours!

We had a wonderful stay at Tamarind Guesthouse. It has a lot of charm and character, and the room was large, comfortable and very clean. It is in a great location, across the street from Wat Mahathat, and tours to see the other ruins by boat or tuk-tuk can be organized at the guesthouse. The woman who runs Tamarind was incredibly helpful, and went out of her way to help us arrange transportation to our next destination of Phimai. I would highly recommend staying at Tamarind.

Accommodation provides a very homely feel and the owners are very friendly and welcoming. Go for the boat tour in the afternoon as a recommendation from the owner. It’s all worth it! Highly recommended!

Perfect location just in front of some of the main temples. A beautiful place with a lovely terrace, spacious and clean rooms, great mattresses and amazing bathrooms. Tea, coffee + fruits or amazing banana bead for breakfast included. The owners are the friendliest and made our stay unforgettable. They are always smiling and always happy to help - they offered fresh coconuts to all guests, gave us a banana bread baking lesson and even drove us to the train station! Thank you so much for our stay! :)
