Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Great little restaurant on the beach that does amazing food for even better prices! A lovely place to watch the sun set too! We had the bbq tuna and potato and it was a really good sized meal! Can thoroughly recommend this restaurant on the beach!

A good basic bungalow for dirt cheap prices - we just asked and the most basic bamboo one was 500THB and ours in "concrete" style was 600THB (the people at the place beside us payed more than the double for a similar) A very laid-back family having it , smiling and nice but the grill-restaurant was as laid-back as them and the result thereafter - but there are heaps of eating places around so no worries! A good basic cheap place but since we have been there quite a long time ago (earlier than allowed to write in the calendar) the prices are not guaranteed today - but it is still a dirt cheap and nice place to stay - but do not expect to get HEAVEN for nothing - you get what you pay for and there are nice people around.

We walked along the beach for lunch hoping for a quick snack. So we stopped at the sea shell beach restaurant... Well, I won't make that mistake again! And I don't think I have ever given a 1 on trip advisor before - so I don't do this lightly! Although the service was smiley - the food was terrible. We ordered 2 fresh fruit shakes and we're given icy slush puppies which must have been made from orange cordial rather than fresh fruit! We then had 2 chicken burgers which may easily have come out of a packet and deep fried. But it wasn't breast or breaded... Just a minced up pattie. I think there was also a translation issue because I did ask if it was a chicken breast first. Anyway, lovely server but the food was pants.

Okay so this place isnt some five star resort, what it is is well positioned basic accomodation with super friendly staff and a good restaurant. We got one of the older huts with fan for 450 a night. No flushing toilets or hot water and lacking in some maintenance and cleaning, but this didnt bother us. They do your washing super quick for 40 a kg. Good place for the price.

We stayed here with children aged 3 and 5, and will highly recommend this place. We were not really on a budget trip, but came to this place looking for a room for one night by coincidence, as our current hotel was full an we wanted to stay another night at this beach. We ended up staying 3 more nights. Accommodation is cheap, the restaurant is very good and attracts many guests from other staying in the area in the evening. The location is excellent, as you are living literally on the beach. We stayed in a clean room with AC. Bathroom and shower was clean and well functioning. The staff was excellent and very friendly, as they fell in love with our kids. The place provided scooter rental. There is no pool and no minibar at the room. The beach is somewhat rocky at low tide, but the best part of the beach is just outside this place. There are plenty other places to eat or drink close by, take a stroll at night down the beach. Highly recommended place for budget travellers.

For those seeking budget accommodation in the Klong Kong area of Ko Lanta, this is your spot. When we first arrived here four days ago (March 10th, 2013), we made the rounds and visited all the bungalows along the beach (including the Lonely Planet's 'top choice' Bee Bees), and this was not only the cheapest - all the other bungalows were 700 baht and up - but also the hotel with the friendliest staff and the hotel with the bungalows in the best condition. Our bamboo bungalow is 500 baht per night and all the amenities function. The bed is hard, we only have cold water (but who wants hot water in this heat?), the room only comes with a fan, and the bar next door plays music a little loud until midnight. The A/C unit costs 900 baht per night and is in a cement building a little closer to the beach. The hotel has excellent WiFi (our friends who are staying at CoCo 'Eco' Resort have WiFi issues and thus visit us frequently) and definitely the BEST restaurant in the area. Not only are the prices right (full 1kg snapper for 350 baht, 3 fatty shrimp for 50 baht, squid or chicken BBQ for 50 baht), but the food is done to perfection. Every night the restaurant here fills up while the competitors stay empty for a reason. That said, if you are looking for 4 or 5 star accommodation, consider staying elsewhere as this is a budget location - but truly a fabulous budget location.

Like most other places in Khlong Khong, this place is also a beach front bungalow resort. There are few bamboo bungalows with fan and a couple of solid walls bungalows with AC. We stayed in one of those, which I personally liked because there were no holes in the walls or ceiling for any critters to get in. Nice size, simple but cute room with a big bed and bathroom with hot water. The cute room however was as far as the character goes. The resort itself is not much more then a simple line of about 8 bungalows with even simpler restaurant/ bar on the beach. There were some attempts of landscaping the grounds but with overall mediocre. Most of the other bungalow resorts on the beach had put an effort into making their grounds pretty and illuminating them at night with colorful lanterns. Seashell Beach Resort unfortunately is a firm believer in uncovered fluorescent lights, which totally strips away any potential for a cosy and romantic atmosphere. The food at the restaurant was mediocre as well. No one from the staff spoke good english so it was a bit hard to communicate. The good thing about the place is that it is quiet, clean, on the beach and it is better price then many other places so overall a good value for your dollar.

This place seemed nice at first but it is filled with flaws. Avoid the restaurant at all costs! For specializing in bbqed seafood the food was terrible! The whole grilled snapper was still raw, and the shrimp were unfresh and cooked poorly. The only redeeming factor was that its right on the beach...but so are all the places here...

we enjoyed our stay at the time despite finding the staff fairly unfriendly. Location next to beach in wonderful. Unfortunately our bank card was stolen from the resort ( at the computer desk) eaving us over 400 pounds poorer.

We loved this place. Great location. We stayed in a deluxe garden view room. The rooms are new and modern and very clean. Seashell is a great place to stay. Nice pool, great breakfast. Dive team is awesome, and made our first scuba experience really great. All amenities on location. They dont have a shuttle to the pier which is the only drawback. But once you are there you don't need to leave, and free shuttle back to the pier with boat ticket! Staff is friendly. Would love to stay again.
