We stayed for 4 nights in Jan 09 in one of the beachfront rooms. The hotel looks just like in the photos online (we booked on expeida). We were greeted with fresh coconut juice and fresh flowers in the rooms. It was a very tasteful way to make us feel welcome, and get into the feel of being on a... more

After beeing here for 14 days, we can still say that this is the BEST resort we tryed in the past 8 weeks. Staff is exellent, rooms beautifull, breakfast wonderfull, view amazing, pool with shade. All you see is smiles and nice lokal suroundings. You can find lokal restaurant and shops, aswell as a small 7-eleven nearby. This place have... more

The best rooms in this 12-room hotel are the two ocean front on the second floor, and we had one of them. The view wonderful, room spacious. The bathroom had a large shower with excellent pressure, a separate sink area and a toilet with door that closed. Soaker tub in the main area. Although the Mandalai abuts a main road... more

The Mandalai is a very stylish hotel and looks just like the pictures. The rooms are great, lots of nice touches like lighting, dimmer controls for fan & lights, huge jacuzzi in the room. The hotel is probably one of the nicest on the island. However, the smell from the fish processing is pretty unpleasant. Every morning there are trays... more

We stayed at Mandalay with my husband in the beginning of January 2009, for 5 nights. Although the weather wasn't that great all the time, we enjoyed our time. We had booked a garden view room, but when we arrived to the hotel, we got upgraded to a pool view room. The interior of the room was very nice. If... more

The hotel itself is a nice place but the location Ao Chaloklum is not. It is located next to the pier. Rooms are nice. But what is the best room worth, if complete environment isn´t. No beaches close to the hotel and a rate of approx. 6.000 BAHT is more than tripple of an A/C bungalow on other beaches with... more

We stayed here in Dec 08 for Christmas and thought the place was great. We booked a beach view room which had spectacular views of teh beach and sea. We were a bit dissapointed that the hotel would not collect us from the Ferry on arrival especially as it says on their web site that they do. The staff were... more

We arrived at the hotel with a great welcome and coconut drink which was amazing! We booked a garden view room and were not entirely happy with the privacy and size of the room but with some talks and extra money we upgrade to a far better room which was the mountain view room. Everything in the room was fantastic... more

My wife and I are frequent visitors to Thailand and stayed at Mandalai for a week in late August 2008. We prefer smaller places in areas that don't feel too touristed however aren't hippie backpacker venues, and that's what we found at Mandalai. We booked one if the rooms facing the ocean, the room itself was large and very clean.... more
